Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Floating to multiple ICUs including Trauma, Oncology, Cardiac/Heart and Vascular, Neurology, Medicine, and COVID units.
- If ICU needs are low, will float to inpatient floors as a staff nurse (ratio no more than 1:3).
- May float to non-critical care units or be utilized as a patient sitter if needed.
- ICU nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1 for all shifts.
- Every other weekend required.
Unit Details & Skills
- No specific CVICU experience required.
- Preferred (not required) cardiac skill set:
- Swan-Ganz catheter hemodynamic interpretation
- IABP, Impella, ECMO experience
- Vasoactive drips, CRRT
- Required certifications and skills:
- BCLS, ACLS
- Ventilator management, IV start, Telemetry, Conscious Sedation
- Preferred certifications: Chemo, CCRN, NIH, ONS, TNCC, CPI
- Preferred experience: Triage, ICP monitoring, PA lines, Level 1 Trauma experience
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience required.
- First-time travelers will not be accepted.

Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - check unit requirements
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual update unless otherwise specified)
- IV Certification (for LPN/LVN if applicable)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific competency exams (updated annually)
- State License verification and NURSYS verification required
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive drug panel
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) with annual renewal
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with yearly questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- Hepatitis B declination form required (vaccination not mandatory)
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Floating across multiple ICU specialties and inpatient floors as needed
- Every other weekend required
- May be asked to serve as patient sitter if census is low
Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued ID required
- Background checks must be current and include multiple state and federal databases
- Education and licensure must be verified and on file prior to start
- Facility-specific documents such as HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Regulatory compliance education must be completed annually through facility training platform
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)
References & History
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded
