Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: ICU (Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Unit)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- First-time Travelers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Shift Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Floating within ICU service line units required
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., CPI, MAB, TNCC, PALS, NRP)

- Medical and Surgical ICU experience
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Obtaining and interpreting 12 lead EKG/ECG
- Central Venous Pressure Monitoring (CVP)
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Management of acute and chronic renal failure, including CRRT/dialysis
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care/management
- Starting and maintaining IVs, continuous IV sedation
- Emergency medication administration
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- CVA/Acute Stroke management
- BiPAP and ventilator management, respiratory failure care
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions (PPE use)
- Phlebotomy
- Care of surgical wounds with drains and wound vac

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required
- Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not for IL home care)
- Professional license primary source verification (Missouri licenses via NURSYS)
- Drug testing within 1 year, must include standard panels and not expire during assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask testing annually (N95 models required)
- Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB testing or questionnaire, Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with specific unit exemptions)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Unit-specific competency exams including dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- Skills checklist within 1 year of start
- References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

Additional Notes
- Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete required training and documentation prior to start.
- Floating within ICU units is expected to meet facility needs.
- No block scheduling accommodations.
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted.
- Pending licenses are accepted with proper documentation.
- Return to origin travel restrictions limit time away to no more than 7 days.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong critical care skills and certifications, willing to travel and work in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment.
