    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Eureka, California

    Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
    Start Date: ASAP


    Job Description

    • Position is within an Allergy and Immunology Clinic.
    • Experience administering Allergy/Immunology injections is highly preferred but not required.
    • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, no weekends or on-call required.
    • No floating between units.
    • Locals are welcome to apply but not required.
    • Candidates must commit to a 26-week contract.
    • Opportunity to transition from temporary to permanent status after contract completion.
    • Minimum 1 year of experience required.
    • First-time travelers accepted.
    • Pending state licenses are not accepted.
    • Charting system used: EPIC.

    Required Certifications & Licenses

    • Current Registered Nurse license valid in California.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation).
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation).
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification (if applicable).
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification (if applicable).
    • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable).
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable).
    • IV Certification (if applicable).
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable).
    • NIH Stroke Certification (renewed every 2 years, if applicable).
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable).
    • NURSYS verification required for all RNs.

    Required Background Checks & Verifications

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
    • Education Verification (3rd party) for nursing degree.
    • State-specific searches as applicable (e.g., Washington State Patrol Search for WA placements).
    • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
    • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
    • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment.

    Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
    • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel candidates, updated annually.
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer, or signed declination.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, or signed declination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination.
    • COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination (required if onsite).
    • Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use (travel only).

    Competency Requirements

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
    • Competency exams as required by specialty.
    • Color Blind Testing if required by unit.
    • Specific competency exams for Labor & Delivery RNs (EFM training or certification).
    • Medication Aide exam for CNAs in certain Oregon assisted living facilities (if applicable).

    Facility & System Requirements

    • Completion of Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules (Core, Specialty, Regional, and Annual Regulatory Requirements) prior to start.
    • Epic system training modules required for candidates working in certain Providence regions.
    • Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) may be required.
    • Compliance with Providence float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities nearby).

    Additional Notes

    • Interview will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
    • Candidates should review housing options in the Eureka area before applying.
    • Locals are eligible to apply.
    • Pending state licenses are not accepted.
    • No weekend or on-call shifts required.
