Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Trenton, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Emergency Room
- Average Daily Census: 16-18 patients
- Visits per Day: 16
- Rooms/Beds: 7
- Required Experience: Minimum 1 year
- First-time travelers accepted: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- Floating: Regular floating within scope may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)
- On-call: Not required
- Block schedule: Not accommodated
- Local candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI/MAB, NIH Stroke Certification) - check unit-specific requirements
Licensure
- Active RN license required (Missouri license verifiable via NURSYS)
- Pending licenses not accepted
- IV Certification required for LPN/LVN if applicable (Missouri facilities)
Skills & Competencies
- Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 12 months for certain units
- Color Blind Testing required within 12 months of start
Background Checks & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units
- State-specific searches required for Missouri and Illinois placements
- Abuse registry and other state-specific checks as applicable
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination required
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination required (with exceptions for certain units)
- Hepatitis B declination form required (vaccination not mandatory)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be current throughout assignment
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)
- HIPAA Acknowledgement signed prior to start and updated annually
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy to be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Regulatory Compliance Education completed and passed with 80% or higher prior to start and annually thereafter
- Additional healthstream modules and facility-specific training may be required prior to orientation
Additional Notes
- Navy scrubs required
- Electronic Health Record system: Epic
- Must provide two professional references (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for extensions or per diem
