Emergency Department Staff Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Johnson City, New York

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care by protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering. The RN is accountable for compliance with professional nursing standards and regulations, including the New York State Nurse Practice Act and relevant nursing association standards. The role supports a caring and healing environment in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
- Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
- Administer medications safely following hospital policies.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, time, and supplies.
- Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
- Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
- Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
- Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
- Support learning for new employees and students.
- Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Education & Licensure
- Required: Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing

- Required Certifications:
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License
- BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
- Preferred Certifications: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
Preferred Experience
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
