Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Jersey City, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Facility Type: Level 2 Trauma Center

- Call: 2 times per schedule
- Role Requirements:
- Must be able to circulate and scrub in the OR
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care OR experience required
- Experience required in robotic surgery and ENT
- Experience in ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, and neuro surgeries required
- Patient mix includes all OR specialties except open heart surgery
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrubs Provided
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for RN Manager, ED, Adult Critical Care Units, MS/Tele, Outpatient Surgery, PCU, L&D; preferred for Behavioral Health
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for ED, Outpatient Surgery, PACU, PICU, Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for L&D, Mother-Baby, Newborn, NICU, Nursery, Antepartum, Special Care Nursery
- CHEMO Certification – Required as applicable for chemotherapy administration
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Beginner and Intermediate levels required for Mother-Baby and Labor & Delivery RNs
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (includes online and in-person training)
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required for Adult Critical Care, ED, Telemetry, MS/Tele, Cath Lab, and Stroke Center units
- Other Certifications: May be required based on specialty and unit (e.g., Infection Control, Tech Certifications)
Required Competencies and Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required for all RNs & LPNs within 12 months of start
- Competency Exam – Must be completed within 72 hours of signing; required within 12 months of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Required for ED, MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU, Observation Units, IMC, Step-Down, Adult Critical Care, PACU, Cath Lab, Educators
- Color Blind Testing – Required within 1 year if job tasks require color discrimination
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Pharmacology and EKG exams required with remediation process for failures
Required Background and Health Documents
- Background Check: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug Screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start, must clear candidate to perform essential job functions and be free of communicable disease
- TB Testing: Negative TB test (blood or skin) within 3 months of start or documented history with clearance
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – Positive IgG titers or documented vaccinations
- Varicella – Positive IgG titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B – Positive surface antibody titer or compliant vaccine series
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – Within past 10 years
- Flu Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption: Required annually during flu season
- Fit Test: Required on-site for respirator use; must be clean-shaven unless accommodation approved
- Latex Allergy Screening: Required if job tasks involve glove use or respirator use
Additional Requirements
- Work History: Minimum 7 years of work history with verification; 2 references required (one managerial)
- Skills Checklist: Scrub and circulate skills checklist must be submitted and updated annually
- Facility Specific: Must complete floating policy and annual education sign-offs
- Orientation: Must review and sign job description and facility-specific orientation materials prior to start
