Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a caring, patient-centered environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as a primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to policy.
• Share responsibility for productivity and resource utilization (staffing, time, supplies).
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Office and patient care areas requiring proximity to employees and patients.
• Air-conditioned and heated rooms.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Exposure to cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
• Use of PPE (eyewear, masks, face shields, shoe covers, gloves) as required by infection control policies.

Patient Population

• All age groups.

Access to Patient Information

• Level 3 Clinical access to non-restricted patient information.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6 months to 3 years of nursing (RN) experience.
• 0 to 3 years of management experience.
• 5+ years of direct experience.
• Strong collaboration, communication (verbal and written), judgment, critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem solving, quality focus, reliability, safety, and risk management skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education Requirements

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

• Required: Current New York State RN License, BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty; relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by unit.
