Description
Job Opportunity: RN Surgery (Long-Term Assignment)
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Specialty: Registered Nurse - Surgery (Operating Room)
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule & Environment
- Rotating shifts: 4x10 hour shifts (0900-1900 or 1000-2000), flexible based on OR volume
- Call hours based on department needs, including holiday call rotating with regular staff
- May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years OR experience
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Robotic surgery experience and scrub nurse experience helpful
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
- Current nursing license verified via Nursys within 30 days prior to start
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- License/Certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Driver’s License/State ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
Health & Immunizations
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
- MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be done onsite)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA testing for TB, with required follow-up documentation
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (optional but recommended)
Testing & Competencies
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score, updated yearly
- Ascension EKG Exam with passing score of 80%, two attempts allowed
- Ascension Epic Test-Out: Epic test results and training checklist with signed attestation
- Ascension Skills Checklist: clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start, updated annually
- Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Ascension Criminal Background Check including SSN trace, employment verification, OIG search, and national sex offender registry, updated annually
- Ascension EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
- Ascension Education Verification relevant to clinical work, completed within 90 days of start
- Ascension Employment Verification for past 7 years, updated annually
Documentation & Agreements
- Signed Assignment Agreement required prior to onboarding
- Ascension Resume/Profile required for submission
- At least two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and extensions
- Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (done onsite)
- Completion of Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules for non-allied positions
Additional Notes
- Optional: Ascension Unit Specific Checklist and Hiring Manager Evaluation
- May be required to complete FACIS Questionnaire if any disciplinary actions exist
- Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on department needs
