Travel RN - ACCU (Acute Care Critical Unit)
Location: Moreno Valley, California

Job Overview
Seeking a Registered Nurse with recent ICU experience in an acute care facility to provide critical care nursing across multiple units including ICU, ED, PACU, and Intermediate Care (IMC) units. The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments on admission and reassess regularly, at least every shift.
- Develop, review, and update individualized plans of care based on patient data.
- Administer oral, topical, and parenteral medications following the 7 rights of medication administration.
- Monitor and document patient responses to medications and treatments.
- Perform treatments and procedures adhering to sterile technique, hospital policies, and patient privacy standards.
- Document care accurately and legibly, including pain management, discharge planning, and patient education.
- Educate patients and families based on assessed needs.
- Interpret diagnostic data and communicate changes in patient condition promptly to healthcare team members using SBAR communication.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and follow hospital safety and infection control policies.
- Manage patients in restraints according to policy and demonstrate knowledge of blood transfusion procedures.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals and hospital protocols including use of two patient identifiers.
- Understand and participate in hospital emergency and disaster plans, including Rapid Response Team activation.
- Adhere to Core Measures and vaccine control guidelines.
Critical Care Specific Duties
- Document initial assessments, care plans, progress notes, ICU flow sheets, medication records, and critical values.
- Use Pyxis system appropriately for narcotics and follow high-risk medication administration policies.
- Utilize pressure monitoring and bedside cardiac monitors; recognize cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Manage pain and sedation protocols and follow early mobility protocols.
- Follow protocols for sepsis, ventilator-associated pneumonia, pressure ulcers, and central line care.
- Collect nurse-obtained specimens for Type and Cross/Screen.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients.
- Access unit-specific policies and resources as needed.
Requirements
- Current California RN License
- ACLS, BLS, CA RN License
- Recent ICU RN experience in an acute care setting
- Ability to float between ICU, ED, PACU, and IMC units
Schedule & Contract Length
- Contract Length: 8 weeks
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 3 days per week
- Must start by December 22, 2025
This position is ideal for experienced critical care nurses comfortable working in fast-paced acute care environments and flexible to float across multiple units.
