Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Description
- Position at New Jersey’s first and only freestanding cancer hospital.
- May submit application with a pending New Jersey license.
- Contract options: 13 weeks or 26 weeks.
- Required credentials:
- HARD STOP: R.T. (R)(CT)(ARRT) OR CNMT, NMTCB(CT) certification.
- Preferred experience: Minimum 2 years.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Schedule: Every 3rd weekend required, no on-call duties.
- Floating: May float to the main hospital as needed (connected by pedestrian bridge).
- No block scheduling.
- Locals accepted.
- BLS certification required.
- Experience with a range of exams from diagnostic to therapeutic Nuclear Medicine studies.
- EPIC charting system used.
- Equipment: GE and Philips Nuclear Medicine Cameras.
- Dress code: Black scrubs.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Mandatory:
- R.T. (R)(CT)(ARRT) or CNMT, NMTCB(CT)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty (confirm with program coordinator):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC for adults, APHON for pediatrics)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) for applicable units
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) for ER, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification for certain critical care and emergency units
- State license verification and NURSYS verification as applicable.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals.
- New Jersey Department of Treasury Exclusions List check within 30 days of start and for extensions.
- Attestation regarding pending background searches required at start if background is pending.
- Health Documents:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (specific testing timelines apply).
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming clearance to perform job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test).
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
- Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start (on-site fit testing mandatory).
- Latex allergy questionnaire if applicable.
- Color blindness exam if job tasks require color discrimination.
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LPNs within 72 hours of signing.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for specific units within 72 hours of signing.
- Color blind testing within one year of start if applicable.
- Orientation & Training:
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required.
- Annual education sign-off and CEU requirements (varies by specialty).
- Online Iron Temple training required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs.
- Work History & References:
- 7 years of work history required, with verification of at least 1 year prior to start date for New Jersey candidates.
- Two references required within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Employment application or resume required.
Additional Notes
- Floating policy must be completed for every new assignment or site transfer.
- No on-call responsibilities.
