Unit Information

Unit: Medical Trauma Unit
Level of Care: Medical Surgical, Telemetry
Beds: 34 private beds, 2 semi-private beds
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 7 RN/LPNs, 3 Techs, 1 DA
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 6 RN/LPNs, 3 Techs
Patient Ratios: 5-6 patients per nurse
Equipment: Remote telemetry, vein finder, bladder scanner, EKG machine, Doppler, Hoyer Lift, glucometer, pulse oximeter, scales, wound vac
EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support)
Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical Surgical nursing

Preferred Skills

Trauma experience
Telemetry experience

Specialized Care Responsibilities

Management of complex wounds
Administration of blood products
Pain management
Care of tubes and drains (NG, PEG, feeding tubes, surgical drains)
Chest tube management

Work Environment

Dress Code: Navy scrubs
Schedule: Every other weekend off, no on-call required
Floating Areas: Medical Surgical, Telemetry (if certified)
