Job Opportunity: IMC - RN - Endoscopy
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Job Summary
Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy / Post Anesthesia unit responsible for delivering safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care. Participate in managing the Endoscopy Unit, maintaining endoscopes and specialized equipment, and providing technical assistance during procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized perioperative patient care plans.
- Protect patients from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources.
- Manage patient specimens appropriately.
- Communicate patient status throughout the continuum of care.
- Administer medications safely and correctly.
- Perform interventions to maintain wound and tissue perfusion, and support genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems.
- Assist physicians with scope manipulation, polyp snaring, cutting, cauterizing, dilations, bandings, and other procedures.
- Perform IV therapy including insertion, aseptic technique, dressing, tubing changes, and pump use.
- Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment per standards and regulations.
- Participate in care and maintenance of endoscopes and specialized equipment, ensuring proper decontamination and traceability records.
- Knowledge and ability to perform defibrillation (adult and pediatric), airway management, code management, assist with intubation, and proper patient positioning.
- Prioritize and implement efficient nursing care plans, conduct timely evaluations, recognize patient condition changes, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Evaluate patient responses and communicate with healthcare team members.
- Assess postoperative status including respiratory, neurological, hemodynamic stability, pain, comfort, and mental status.
- Apply relevant scoring systems/discharge criteria for patient transfer (e.g., Aldrete Score, Modified Aldrete Score, PADSS, White score).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical surgical, critical care, and/or endoscopy nursing.
- Critical thinking, math, and computer skills.
- Team player with professionalism and respect in interactions.
- Excellent oral and communication skills.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to see, hear, read, and write English.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, high-stress environment with prolonged standing, reaching, and walking.
- Ability to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items up to 35 pounds routinely; able to lift up to 100 pounds if necessary to assist patients.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, blood and body fluids, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks), communicable diseases, chemical hazards, radiation, and repetitive motions.
- Full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Associate’s Degree accepted with minimum 5 years of medical surgical, critical care, and/or endoscopy experience.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Certifications & Licensure
- Current New York State RN License required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
- Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) preferred.
