CVOR Travel Opportunity - Rapid City, South Dakota
Position Overview
- Specialty: CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Location: Rapid City, South Dakota
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- 1 procedure room (new hybrid cath lab/OR opening in April or May)
- 1-2 cases per day
- Patient Population: Adults
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in procedure area (nurse & tech)
- Required specialized experience with:
- TAMBE (thoracoabdominal branch endoprosthesis) – mandatory
- PMEG (physician modified endovascular graft) – mandatory
- Experience with other procedures preferred:
- TCAR (transcarotid arterial revascularization)
- TEVAR (thoracic endovascular aortic repair)
- TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve repair)
- TMVR (transcatheter mitral valve repair)
- AIFF (aortoiliac femoral angiogram)
- Femoral bypass
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers may be considered pending skills and management review (no explicit prior travel experience required)
Certifications Required
- Nurse: BLS, ACLS
- Tech: ARRT or equivalent OR RCIS, BLS, ACLS
Education Requirements
- Nurse: Completion of an approved nursing education program; RN license per South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Tech: Associate Degree
Skills and Competencies
Nurse
- Cath lab experience required
- ICU experience preferred
- Experience with moderate sedation, sedation monitoring, and gtt titration
- Endovascular approach experience required, including mandatory TAMBE and PMEG experience (automatic decline if missing)
- Ideal candidate has cath lab or interventional radiology experience with specialization in endovascular cases
- No patient prepping or recovery duties
Tech
- Experience with endovascular procedures alongside cardiothoracic surgeons required
- Experience performing cases in a hybrid OR setting required
- Mandatory TAMBE and PMEG experience (automatic decline if missing)
Department Support
- Charge nurse available in the cath lab
Technology/Equipment
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Imaging: Siemens and Philips X-ray and hemodynamic systems
Floating
- May float within cath lab to assist with peripheral and structural procedures
Orientation
- New Employee Orientation (NEO)
- 4 consecutive 10-hour shifts with preceptor during first week
Scheduling
- Shift: 0600 - 1630
- Weekend rotation: Flexible; likely every other or every third weekend
- On-call: 24-hour coverage, approximately every other to every third night (1-2 times per week)
- Holiday: Likely working every other holiday
- Schedule cycle released every 4 weeks
- Return to Office (RTO) requires manager approval
