Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Sacramento, California
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Setting: Surgery Center (PreOp/PACU)
- Schedule: No weekends or holidays required, no on-call required
Requirements
- California RN License (CA RN)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in PreOp/PACU (highest required experience)
- EPIC experience highly preferred
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including:
- Social Security trace with all aliases
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide sex offender search (within 90 days of start)
- Education verification (highest level achieved)
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Transcript/Diploma verification as needed
- State-specific Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List search if FACIS III cannot be run
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Additional certifications may be verified depending on position:
- NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, etc. (verify by position)
- Competency exams as applicable (medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG, etc.)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination signed
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
Documentation & Compliance
- Must complete and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Job description review
- Standards of Business Conduct
- General Regulatory Orientation
- Vendor Training and Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
- Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
- TB Screening Questionnaire (within 90 days, renewed annually)
- Religious accommodation forms if applicable
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
- Employment verification required for up to 7 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
Additional Notes
- No prior travel experience explicitly required for this role
- EPIC experience is highly preferred but not mandatory
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts required
