Unit Description
- Step down from ICU, no ventilators or pressor support
- Telemetry unit
- Drips accepted: heparin, cardizem, amiodarone
- Sotolol initiation
- Requires ER holding experience
- Floating within the hospital based on skill set
Required Experience & Licenses
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience
- Active Tennessee nursing license
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Certifications & Training Requirements
- ACLS (AHA or ARC; certification must be current and valid at start)
- BLS (AHA or ARC; certification must be current and valid at start)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required annually; must be current)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Medication and Arrhythmia tests required for RNs; must pass with 84% or higher; two attempts allowed
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA form required; expires annually)
- Floating Policy: Must be signed; expires annually
- Core Competency Training (Parts I, II, III): Annual training including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA, TJC National Patient Safety Goals, etc.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Annual requirement

- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required for ER and Pediatric ER; certification must be current
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER; certification must be current
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI - Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health RNs; certification must be current
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health; certification must be current
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine current within 10 years (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by deadlines (not required for 100% remote workers)
- Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation (N95 masks commonly used)
Background & Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including alias and county/state searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Education verification of highest level required
- OFAC Sanctions List search required for all new candidates
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., WV residents or certain care areas)
- Drug testing and immunization documentation must be verifiable with clinic info and DOB or last 4 SSN digits
Additional Requirements
- Must carry valid driver's license on duty (required for computer access setup)
- Badge photo required (passport style, light background, no hats or filters)
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment (approx. 12 hours of training)
- Must complete all required testing and certifications prior to start
- Floating within hospital required based on skill set
This position requires a highly skilled RN with telemetry and step-down experience, strong EPIC proficiency, and multiple certifications current at the time of assignment. Compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and mandatory training is essential.
