Job Summary: RN Medical/Surgical (Long-Term Assignment)

Location: Elmira, New York
Shift: Day shift
Unit: Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Stroke Unit
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical/Surgical

  • TB Test – Must have recent TB testing (PPD or Quantiferon) within last 12 months; annual requirement
  • Tdap – Preferred but not required; if no record, facility-specific declination form required
  • Physical/Health Statement – Within last 12 months; must include physician credentials, vitals, and statement of no restrictions
  • Fit Test – Must be completed prior to start; annual requirement for specific mask models

Professional Requirements

  • Skills Checklist – Must be completed for the assigned unit and updated annually
  • Core Competency Exam – Must score 80% or higher on nursing core competency exams
  • Resume – Detailed employment and education history for last 7 years required for submission
  • Professional References – Two references required: one supervisor from last 12 months, one supervisor or peer from last 3 years
  • Employment Verification – Verification of most recent employer required
  • Background Checks – Agency background check within 30 days of start, including national and county criminal searches, FACIS 3 check, SSN address trace, and multiple instant background checks
  • Drug Screen – Must be completed within 30 days of start; marijuana testing prohibited per New York state regulations
  • Color Headshot – Recent professional photo required
  • Job Description – Signed and dated acknowledgment required
  • Various Facility-Specific Forms and Acknowledgments – Including code of conduct, sexual harassment acknowledgment, parking registration, internal background check, confirmation of assignment, self-study packet and quiz
