Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology

Job Details

  • Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Call Requirements: 10 shifts per month including weekend call
  • Weekend Requirements: Every 3rd or 4th weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
    • 3 twelve-hour shifts: 36 hours/week
    • 4 twelve-hour shifts: 48 hours/week
  • First Timers Accepted: Yes
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending State License: Accepted if application is submitted

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Current Indiana State Department of Health Radiology Technologist license
  • ARRT (R) certification required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during special exams
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise patient positioning
  • May require advanced credential in interventional radiology (if applicable)

Experience Requirements

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic radiographic procedures for radiological diagnosis

  • Position patients correctly to obtain requested diagnostic images
  • Treat patients with care and respect
  • May be required to scrub into procedures as needed

Additional Requirements and Notes

  • Must complete various background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal exclusions within specified timeframes
  • Required health documents include:
    • Physical exam within 12 months of start
    • Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start
  • Minimum of 2 professional references required from recent employment (within 2 years)
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required annually

Important Notes

  • IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities after 11/30/2024, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (this does not affect IR Techs)
  • Open to discussing block scheduling accommodations
