Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Must have active RN license in Tennessee
  • Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification
  • Must have Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience
  • Floating to other units required based on skill set
  • Weekend coverage required

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually; must be valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for pediatric units, ER, and PACU; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU and Pediatrics; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Required as applicable (AWHONN)
  • Tech Certification (National): Must be current and valid
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA form required, expires annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for all RN candidates; must pass with a minimum score of 84%
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start; license cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP licenses within 30 days of start

Competency & Compliance

  • Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training with a minimum passing score of 80%
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually
  • Color Blind Testing required for nurses assigned to Emergency Department and Pediatric ER
  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting as applicable
  • Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required (not for remote workers)

Orientation & Facility Policies

  • Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment; required before start
  • Floating policy must be signed and renewed annually
  • Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style with specific background and no obstructions)
  • Compliance checklist must be completed and all required documents submitted before start
  • Fit mask (N95) respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup
  • Background checks and verifications must be current and compliant with facility standards
  • Candidates may be required to float to other units based on skill set
  • Weekend coverage is mandatory

This position offers a 13-week travel contract for experienced RNs with Medical-Surgical/Telemetry skills, requiring multiple certifications and compliance with strict health and safety standards.
