Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
Job Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may vary to meet hospital operational needs
- Facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in specialty prior to travel assignments
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have Permanent Ohio RN License or Compact State License in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Certification
- Certifications must be current and renewed if expiring within 30 days of start
Orientation & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test required during orientation
- Passing scores on both assessments are mandatory
- Pass/Fail testing applies to all bedside RNs except OR nurses
- Orientation includes completion of online training modules prior to start
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content cannot be skipped
Compliance & Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3
- Education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
- Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
- Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Employment History & References
- Application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Co-worker references are not acceptable
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to start
- Candidates with gaps greater than 6 months since last Cleveland Clinic assignment may need to retake orientation and testing
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests required
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, comfortable with rotating shifts and holiday work, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
