Job Description

• Position: Registered Nurse in Emergency Room
• Required Specialty Experience: 2 years
• Licensure: California RN license in hand
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • NIH certification

Requirements & Compliance

Background Checks

• Standard background check including 7-year search of locations lived/worked/schooled
• EPLS/GSA/SAM checks required
• HHS/OIG checks required
• Transcript, diploma, or education verification required

Certifications & Competencies

• Fire Card (issued by LAFD-approved instructor) must be obtained within 30 days of start date
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for all RNs
• Competency Exam as applicable by profession (must meet or exceed passing score)

Facility-Specific Documents

• Photo for badge
• Signed job description
• Assault Responsive Competency (ARC) training required within 30 days of start date (live 4-hour training)
• Access form, voluntary meal waiver, arbitration agreement required
• De-escalation modules attestation required for Emergency Department staff

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam clearance within the past year
• Fit mask test (3M Aura 9205+ or 3M1860s)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD, QGold, or T-SPOT)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
• Hepatitis B series or positive titer
• Varicella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (September - March)
• Color vision exam (Ishihara test) required for certain departments including ED
• COVID vaccination plus booster required
