Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology) - Travel/Contract
Location: Fountain Valley, California
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Oncology)
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, PM shift (1900-0730)
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required to float to Med/Surg, Med/Tele, ED, Postpartum
- First-timers: Accepted
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Provider, Instructor, or RQI acceptable)
- PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on qualification and unit (refer to facility specifics)
Documentation & Compliance
- Must have valid State License with primary source verification
- NURSYS Verification required for RN license
- Background checks including 7-year work/school history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Drug Testing: Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel due to CA state law)
- Physical Exam within 1 year
- Fit Mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (fit testing may be done onsite or scheduled with Employee Health)
- Immunizations and Titers required:
- TDAP (within last 10 years, declination allowed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody titer (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine required November 1 - April 30 (declination allowed)
- COVID vaccination record preferred
Competency & Testing
- Medication Calculation Test required for all RNs
- EKG/Dysrhythmia Competency Exam required for Oncology and other specified units
- Color Blind Testing annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required, with remediation options
- Skills Checklist and Competency Exams updated annually
Facility-Specific Requirements
- EPIC documentation system used; EPIC Education Certificate of Completion required prior to start
- Completion of YouLearn Modules and HIPAA Education Certificate required before or at orientation
- Various facility-specific policy acknowledgments and quizzes (e.g., Safe Patient Handling, Abuse Reporting, Dress and Appearance, Hand Hygiene) must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Photo for badge required
- Employee parking permit completion required
Additional Notes
- Pre-approved time off must be requested at time of submission and approved by manager
- Two professional references required
- Employment application and annual internal evaluations required
- Orientation packets and performance evaluations completed post-start
