Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Must have an accredited nursing degree through ACEN or CCNE.
- Minimum 2+ years recent Medical/Surgical nursing experience required.
- BLS certification (AHA only, AHA RQI acceptable) required.
- Must have Epic experience within the last year.
- Float required.
- Solid black scrubs required.
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions:
- Only accepting up to 7 days max of RTO.
- No RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment.
- Block schedules are not allowed.
Required Credentials & Compliance (Must be current and valid)
Professional Credentials
- Valid Driver's License or State ID (government issued photo ID).
- RN Submission Packet Checklist (completed and signed by candidate and agency).
Licenses & Verifications
- Active nursing license verified through Nursys within 30 days of start.
- License/Certificate verification (Primary Source Verification) within 30 days of start.
Certifications
- BLS (AHA only).
Testing & Exams (must be completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
- Summa EKG Exam and Telemetry Exam (passing score 80%+).
- Unit-specific competency exams (Summa Competency Exam, Specialty Exam if applicable).
- Summa Skills Checklist (unit-specific).
- Summa Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics).
Health & Immunizations
- Fit Test for N95 masks (3M 1870+ N95, Medline Cone Small, 3M 1860 Reg & Small only).
- Pre-employment physical with assessment of ability to perform essential job functions.
- COVID-19 Vaccine (fully vaccinated required; medical/religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
- MMR: Titer or 2 adult MMR vaccines (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B: Titer or proof of complete vaccine series (declinations accepted if signed).
- Influenza Vaccine (required October-April; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval).
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with negative results (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella: Titer or 2 adult vaccines (no declinations accepted).
- Annual TB Questionnaire (Summa form, completed and signed).
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year of start.
Drug Screening & Background Checks
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search plus SSN trace, counties, statewide, nationwide criminal, OFAC, FACIS Level 3) within 90 days of start.
- OIG Search within 90 days of start.
- EPLS Search within 90 days of start.
- Education verification via third-party.
- Social Security Card or Social Security Number confirmation.
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Candidates with more than 7 days of RTO or who prefer block schedules will be rejected.
- Candidates must be able to float to different units as needed.
This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs with recent Epic experience seeking a structured long-term assignment in Ohio.
