Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Cardiac Stepdown Unit)
Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only
- Schedule: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel.
- Must have 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted).
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
- NIHSS Stroke Certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.
Orientation & Testing
- Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation.
- Orientation includes completion of SafeMedicate preparation materials.
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
Background & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
- Fingerprinting must be done under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
Documentation & History
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar area to assignment.
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Skills checklist required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required online onboarding modules prior to clearance to start. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
- Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some orientation/testing requirements waived.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong cardiac stepdown skills seeking a 13-week travel contract in Ohio with a reputable healthcare system.
