Job Opportunity: RN Surgery (LTA)

Job Details

• Shift: Rotating shifts, 4x10 hour shifts (0900-1900 or 1000-2000), flexible based on OR volume
• Call: Based on department needs, including holiday call hours rotating with regular staff
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years OR (Operating Room) experience
  • Robotic experience and scrub nurse experience are helpful
  • Prior travel experience is required
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Required Credentials & Certifications

• Licenses:

  • Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/certificate primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
• Health Requirements:

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza vaccine for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA testing for TB with annual updates
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Background Checks & Verifications:

  • Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG search, National Sex Offender, updated annually
  • Employment verification for past 7 years, updated annually
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
• Onboarding & Testing:

  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score
  • Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% score
  • Epic test-out and training checklist with signed attestation
  • Skills checklist for specialty, updated annually
  • Various Ascension-specific onboarding attestations and modules

Summary

This is a long-term assignment (approximately 13 weeks) for an experienced OR RN with at least 2 years of surgical nursing experience and prior travel experience. The role requires flexibility in shift scheduling and the ability to float within a 40-mile radius. Candidates must have strong clinical skills, familiarity with robotic surgery and EPIC, and meet comprehensive credentialing, health, and background requirements.
