Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 36/36 or 36/48 (use whichever is appropriate for the employment agreement)
  • No call required
  • Floating required (1:7 MS ratios when floated)
  • Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty if census decreases
  • Additional shifts above work commitment may be offered as overtime and flexed as needed
  • Expected to actively participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)

Certifications Required

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (check unit description for requirement)
  • Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)

Licensure & Verification

  • State License primary source verification required
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Education verification required

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
  • Drug testing: Standard 9 Panel Drug Screen within 14 days of start (instant acceptable as placeholder)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
  • Photo for badge must be submitted within 48 hours of signed contract
  • Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and medical clearance forms are time sensitive and must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility not accepted)
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Skills checklist required
  • Candidate must review and comply with facility-specific dress code, uniform guidelines, smoking/tobacco use policy, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, influenza policy, and CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use

References

  • 2 references accepted, 3 preferred

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, including first-time travel nurses, who are comfortable with floating and flexible scheduling. Compliance with comprehensive background checks, certifications, health screenings, and facility-specific policies is mandatory.
