Registered Nurse (MICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Start Date: January 13, 2026
Shift: 3x12 hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Locals Accepted: No, must be over 75 miles radius
First Time Travelers: Yes, accepted


Specialty

  • Patient types include sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management, respiratory failure/shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, Impella
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2, occasionally 1:1 based on acuity

Required Experience

  • Registered Nurse with MICU specialty experience

  • Physical Exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Fit Mask test (within 1 year, updated annually)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year)
  • TB Questionnaire (in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
  • Immunizations:
    • Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Rubella: Positive titer or 1 MMR/Rubella vaccine required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or declination required
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history required
  • Drug Testing (within 30 days of start)
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
  • Eye Exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification

  • 7-year criminal background check (felony checks last 7 years) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
  • Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
  • Transcript/Diploma if no education verification on file
  • Employment application and work history verification required
  • References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates only

Competencies & Other Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as required
  • Color Blind Testing (one-time)
