Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Float RN) - Rochester, NY
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele Float RN)
- Location: Rochester, New York
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: January 13, 2026
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00), option to request 4x12 with approval
- First Time Traveler: Accepted
- Local Candidates: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility
- Floating: Required (overhire float unit)
Licensure & Certifications
- New York RN License: Must have license in hand before start
- BLS: Required (AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted)
- Additional Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification as required by unit
- Charting System: EPIC experience required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience for MS/Tele Float roles
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first time travelers accepted)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government Issued Photo ID: Required
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees)
- Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Employment Verification: At least 2 past employments verified
- References: 2 references within 3 years (for Aya candidates)
- State Specific Checks:
- NY Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days of start)
- NY Medicaid Exclusion List (within 3 months of start, run monthly)
- Fingerprinting and disciplinary action search may be required for certain units
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit Mask: Required within 1 year of start; acceptable masks specified; PAPR allowed if fit test failed
- TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccines required; age exemptions apply
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer, vaccines, or documented history required
- Flu Vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
- Drug Testing: Required within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
- Eye Exam: Snellen exam within 1 year of start
- COVID Vaccination: Preferred but not required
Competencies & Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as required
- Color blind testing required (not annual)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- Facility-specific modules and attestations to be completed prior to start
This position is ideal for RNs with MS/Tele Float experience who have a New York license ready and are comfortable with floating duties. Prior travel experience is not mandatory, making it accessible for first-time travel nurses. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and certifications is required.
