Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Rochester, New York
Specialty: Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 14 bed overflow med/surg telemetry unit for ED boarder patients
- Flex space inside GI Endoscopy area; patient census may vary based on demand
- Weekend coverage every other week (EOW)
- Float required
- Open to block scheduling (not guaranteed)
- Locals accepted only if within 75 miles
- Pending license not accepted
- Minimal Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (higher value confirmed)
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
- EPIC experience required
- Competencies include:
- Med/Surg Telemetry nursing
- IV placement competency (PICC team involvement)
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Peripheral line care/management
- Oxygen administration (nasal cannula, oxygen tanks)
- Non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required by unit
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as required by unit
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required by unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as required by unit
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for all RNs except birthing units & OR
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
Health & Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit mask test (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- TB questionnaire (in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Background & Verification Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copies accepted)
- Transcript/diploma if no education verification on file
- Employment application required
- Work history verification (at least 2 past employments verified)
- References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates only
- Color blind testing required (not annual)
- Competency exams as required by profession/specialty

- NYS Nurse Aide Registry (for LTC, ElderOne, Home Care, Hospice Care) within 3 months of start
- NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (for certain units)
- Disciplinary Action Search Results (for certain units)
- Sex Offender Registry Search Results within 30 days of start
- NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start, run monthly
