Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Long Term Care (LTC) - SSI Specialty
Location: Brooklyn, New York

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct patient care using the nursing process. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for residents.
- Supervising resident/patient care provided by other nursing team members.
- Developing and implementing resident care plans to improve quality of life.
- Diagnosing and treating human responses to actual and potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, counseling, and supportive care.
- Adhering to the Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Key Duties
- Participate in establishing conditions, resources, and policies essential to nursing care delivery.
- Maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, families, and visitors.
- Ensure proper use and safekeeping of equipment, supplies, drugs, and records.
- Apply scientific principles in nursing procedures and knowledge of drugs, diagnostic tests, and therapeutic modalities.
- Conduct resident care rounds, assess needs, and develop comprehensive care plans.
- Complete Minimum Data Set Plus (MDS+) documentation and coordinate comprehensive care planning.
- Assess nutritional needs and assist during mealtime as needed.
- Supervise nursing staff and revise assignments to ensure care quality.
- Provide direct nursing care, administer medications and treatments per physician orders.
- Deliver nursing interventions responding to physical and behavioral/emotional conditions.
- Communicate care plans to other caregivers.
- Assist with complaint investigations related to resident care.
- Maintain fire and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment.
- Evaluate and document resident responses to nursing interventions, including teaching and discharge plans.
- Assist with orientation, skill training, and evaluation of new nursing personnel.
- Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary committees influencing nursing practice policies.
Required Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of Minimum Data Set Plus (MDS+).
- Recent staff nurse experience, preferably in AIDS care.
Required Education
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
- Completion of orientation on caring for residents with AIDS.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- CPR Certification.
- PRI Assessor certification.
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: SSI - RN LTC
