Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Details
- Accepting CRT or RRT credentials
- Must have 2 years of experience as an RRT (higher experience requirement applies)
- Ohio Respiratory Therapist license must be in hand at time of submission
- Work schedule: 4x12 hour shifts
- May float to other nearby facilities as needed
Required Certifications
- NBRC certification (current)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA preferred, RQI acceptable but non-RQI preferred
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for RRT and Emergency Department roles
- Additional certifications required if working with pediatric/neonatal patients (RRT-NICU):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Licensure
- Ohio RRT license required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search including SSN trace, nationwide criminal, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3) required prior to start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required monthly
- Transcript/Diploma verification required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start; must be completed ASAP (cannot pend at start)
- Fingerprinting onsite may be allowed on first day if agency results pending (approval required)
- I9/E-Verify attestation required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (specific approved masks listed)
- Negative 2-step TB test or chest x-ray within 6 months of start, renewed annually
- TB questionnaire if history of positive TB test
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (no instant drug screens accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); no declinations accepted
Documentation and Onboarding
- Must provide 3 years of prior work history including at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar specialty
- Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references required
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, updated annually
- HIPAA acknowledgement form required, updated annually
- Online training modules (4-5 hours) must be completed prior to orientation; modules must be completed on a computer using Chrome browser
- Badge pickup required prior to start or on first day (depending on facility)
- TB results must be uploaded to onboarding system to advance through modules
Additional Notes
- Must carry valid government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Candidates working with pediatric patients (RRT-NICU) have additional fingerprinting and certification requirements
- PAPRs (powered air-purifying respirators) are not supplied by the facility and must be provided by the agency if needed due to failed fit test
- All work history, including previous work at Cleveland Clinic, must be included in application
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists licensed in Ohio seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare system.
