Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Details
- Accepting CRT or RRT credentials
- Must have 2 years of experience as an RRT (higher experience requirement applies)
- Ohio Respiratory Therapist license must be in hand at time of submission
- NBRC and BLS certifications required
- Schedule: 4x12 hour shifts
- May float to other facilities within the system as needed
Required Certifications
- NBRC (for CRT and RRT candidates)
- BLS (AHA preferred, RQI acceptable but non-RQI preferred)
- ACLS (AHA only; required for RRT and Emergency Department roles)
- PALS and NRP (AHA/AAP only; required for RRT-NICU roles)
- State Respiratory Therapist License (Ohio RRT License required)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of clinical practice as an RRT in an acute care setting
- All work history, including prior work with the healthcare system, must be included
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search) required prior to start; must be updated if break in service exceeds 2 months
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Transcript/Diploma verification required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start; must be completed prior to start or approved for onsite completion on first day (case-by-case)
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually
- HIPAA acknowledgement form required and must be updated annually
- I9/E-Verify attestation required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start; must be updated annually; onsite testing not accepted
- Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold TB test/T-Spot within 6 months of start; annual renewal required
- TB questionnaire if history of positive TB test
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; annual renewal required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31); no declinations accepted
Orientation and Onboarding
- Completion of online training modules (4-5 hours) prior to start; must be completed on a computer using Chrome browser
- Modules include watching training videos before tests; skipping videos will lock out candidate
- Badge pickup required prior to or on first day of assignment
- TB results must be uploaded to advance through onboarding modules
- Candidates working with pediatric patients (RRT-NICU) will complete fingerprinting onsite as part of onboarding
Additional Notes
- Must carry a valid government-issued photo ID while on assignment
- Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references required
- Application must include at least 3 years of prior work history, with 2 years in a similar acute care clinical setting
- Skills checklist specific to unit required and must be updated annually
