Job Opportunity: RN - PCU (Cardiac Stepdown Unit)
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Cardiac Stepdown Unit (CSU)
- Beds: 18
- Staff: 38 total
- Shifts:
- Day Shift: 5 RNs, 1 Charge Nurse, 2 PCTs (ideal)
- Night Shift: 5 nurses, 1 PCT
- Patient Ratios: 4:1
- Equipment: Central lines, PCA, Foley, chest tubes, pacer wires, telemetry, drains
- EMR System: Meditech
Required Skills & Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in specialty
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIH Certification
- Licenses: Registered Nurse License
- Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (assumed not required)
Key Skills & Competencies
- Must be able to:
- Read cardiac monitors
- Administer narcotics
- Preferred:
- Stepdown unit experience
- Cardiac knowledge
- Typical procedures on unit:
- CABG, valve replacement, TAVR, Mitral clip, thoracotomy, Afib, CHF, MI
- Cardiac drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, nitro)
- Personality fit:
- Team player
- Critical thinking
- Kind and compassionate
Work Environment & Policies
- Floating Areas: Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units
- Dress Code: All navy scrubs
- Unit Guidelines:
- Vital signs and assessments every 4 hours
- Rhythm interpretation every 4 hours
- Weekend & On-call: Every other weekend, overtime available
This position is ideal for RNs with cardiac stepdown experience looking for a travel assignment in a supportive team environment.
