Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Tele) - Cleveland, Ohio
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
- Location: Cleveland, Ohio
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital needs.
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week (3x12-hour shifts)
- Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- NIHSS Stroke Certification (updated annually)
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.
Orientation & Testing
- Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation.
- Orientation includes completion of online training modules prior to start.
- SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for review before orientation.
Background & Health Requirements
- Background check required prior to start; must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start; must be updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
- Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
Documentation & Compliance
- Must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area.
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exams required.
- State license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing requirements.
Additional Notes
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Modules for onboarding must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic assignments may have some orientation/testing exemptions.
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts to meet operational needs but will try to honor preferred shifts.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts, and able to meet comprehensive health and compliance requirements.
