Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM), plus call, occasional weekends and holidays
- Weekend Requirement: Weekend rotation with staff
- On Call: Call rotation with staff
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Locals Accepted: No
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Pending License: Accepted only if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise, active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Required Clinical Skills
- Circulate and scrub experience required
- Must be able to scrub total joints, craniotomies/neuro, ortho trauma
- Ortho and Neuro experience required
Unit Details
- Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Adolescents, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
- Level I trauma OR with 25 OR suites, 24/7 on-site nursing coverage
- Services include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, sports medicine
- Special equipment: ROSA, Si and Xi daVinci robots, stealth, O-Arm, HIPEC
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR)
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but must have ortho and neuro experience and ability to scrub complex surgeries (implies experienced RN)
- Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I9 or attestation required

- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals

- Physical exam within 1 year of start, free from communicable diseases
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually

- Immunizations or positive titers required for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination documentation or declination form required during flu season
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Skills checklist updated annually
Additional Notes
- Facility does not accept local candidates
- Must adhere to call-off policy: facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- All scheduling requests (RTO, block, special) must be included in submission
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and other facility-specific documents required prior to start
- Candidates must provide a professional photo for badge issuance
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity Level I trauma OR with advanced surgical technology and a diverse patient population.
