    RN-NICU Travel Nurse Opportunity

    Location: Bakersfield, California
    Employment Type: Clinical Nursing Travel


    Job Description

    • Independently prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill NICU patients under nurse leader supervision.
    • Performs nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care.
    • Follows ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics, and California Nurse Practice Act.
    • Creates a compassionate, patient- and family-centered care environment.
    • Collects and documents patient data; interprets assessment data to identify physiological and psychosocial risks.
    • Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
    • Prioritizes nursing actions based on education, experience, and patient assessment.
    • Establishes nursing diagnoses and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, revising care plans as needed.
    • Manages rapidly changing patient conditions and activates emergency protocols when necessary.
    • Coordinates care activities with nurses, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers.
    • Adheres to infection control policies, medication administration procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
    • Participates in staff meetings, professional governance, and nursing practice development.
    • Completes required competencies, mandatory classes, and educational coursework.
    • Maintains knowledge of current nursing practice and complies with hospital policies and RN scope of practice.
    • Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in NICU patient care.

    Requirements

    • Specialty: RN-NICU
    • Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years
    • Licensure: Valid and unrestricted California Registered Nurse License (RN)
    • Certifications:
      • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
      • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Experience: Knowledge and experience with Cerner EMR required
    • Must maintain all health requirements designated by the facility.
    • May require additional certificates of competency depending on assignment.
    • Must have knowledge of advanced nursing theory, techniques, medical terminology, instruments, equipment, and medication effects.
