    Description

    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Tracy, California
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Provide individualized nursing care using fundamental nursing and pharmacology knowledge for geriatric, adult, and adolescent patients from admission through discharge. Requires understanding of standards of care, nursing assessments, and medication management.


    Requirements

    Licensure & Certifications

    • California RN Licensure
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • NIHSS Certification (Stroke Certification)

    Experience

    • Minimum 2 years recent OR experience in a community hospital or Level 2 Trauma facility
    • Minimum 2 years circulating experience in a community hospital setting, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine, Urology, Robotics, OB/GYN (C-sections), Plastic Surgery, and Robotics
    • Conscious sedation experience

    Shift & On-Call Requirements

    • Shift start times between 6:45 AM and 8:30 AM
    • On-call requirement includes overnights on weekdays, 24-hour coverage on weekends and holidays

    Background & Screening Requirements

    • 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
    • Immunizations and titers required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
      • Hepatitis B series or declination
      • Varicella immunity or vaccination
      • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually

    Additional Compliance & Documentation

    • Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
    • Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
    • Employment verification for up to 7 years
    • Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
    • Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry for ICU nurses)
    • Review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
    • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be completed onsite during orientation week

    Notes

    • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
    • Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and obtain approval.
    • Candidates must be prepared for on-call overnight shifts and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage.

    This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with strong OR and circulating experience in a community hospital setting, comfortable with a variety of surgical specialties and on-call responsibilities.
