Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital needs.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's).
• Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
• Oncology/chemotherapy administration experience preferred but not required. Oncology nurses encouraged to apply; training provided for chemotherapy administration.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Chemotherapy certification not required for oncology nurses.
• Pass/fail ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate testing required during orientation.

Prior Travel Experience

• Travel experience in Med/Surg or Telemetry is accepted to meet recent experience requirements.
• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience stated.

Orientation & Testing

• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate competency testing; passing scores required.
• Unit-specific competency exams required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Background & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check required prior to start, including a 7-year FCRA-compliant search. Must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must be completed under nursing-specific code. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite. Candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.

Documentation & References

• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.
• Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director). Co-worker references not accepted.
• Annual skills checklist required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules on a computer using Google Chrome prior to start. Modules cannot be completed on a phone and require watching training videos before testing.
• Candidates with gaps greater than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic assignments may need to re-complete orientation modules.
• Candidates must pass all required competency and safety testing to continue assignment.
