Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm) with possible variability to meet hospital operational needs
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (passing score required)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Other certifications may be preferred but not required for this role

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
• Background checks including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
• Education verification required
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Annual flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually
• Eye exam required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025

Documentation & Testing

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Pass/fail testing for ECG and medication dosing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts)
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start, from supervisors or managers (no co-worker references)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area

Additional Notes

• Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
• Modules and onboarding must be completed prior to clearance to start
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a 13-week travel assignment with a reputable healthcare system.
