Travel RN Opportunity – Surgical/Neuro ICU
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Surgical/Neuro ICU
- Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
- Call Requirements: None
- Number of Openings: 2
Licensure & Certifications
- Required Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS
- Preferred Certification: TNCC
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience (inpatient only)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Unit & Patient Information
- Unit: Neurologic Intensive Care Unit
- Number of Beds: 16
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:2 (not guaranteed)
- Patient Types: Neuro, trauma, surgical
- Preferred Skillset: Care of acute stroke, trauma, and surgical patients
- Equipment Used:
- Bedside telemetry
- Ventilators
- BiPAP/CPAP
- Ventriculostomies

Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Utilize nursing process consistent with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
- May float to other units based on staffing needs
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Exposure to blood and body fluids (high risk)
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, kneeling, crouching, and minimal crawling
- Flexible scheduling may be required
Additional Information
- Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel staff from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
- Dress code: Black scrubs only; no hats, non-facility jackets/sweatshirts, or AirPods allowed
This position is ideal for RNs with ICU experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in a high-acuity neuro/trauma surgical ICU setting.
