Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Must have a New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
- Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility (no locals accepted)
- Patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 on Medical-Surgical unit
- Unit has 26 beds specializing in post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacological interventions
- Facility type: Tertiary Care Hospital with 528 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic (proficiency required)
- Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in specialty (MedSurg/Cardiac care)
- BLS certification required
- Skills in:
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response (dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code teams)
- IV therapy and phlebotomy (peripheral line care/management)
- Respiratory care (nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management)
- Isolation precautions
Certifications Required
- BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted)
- ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted, as required by unit)
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification (as required by unit)
- State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
- Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)
- Work history verification (at least 2 past employments verified)
- References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates
Health & Immunization Requirements
Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing contract:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually)
- Fit mask test within 1 year (specific acceptable masks listed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire annually)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year (not required annually)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates must be proficient in Epic electronic health record system
- Locals are not accepted; must be outside a 75-mile radius
- Patient care involves cardiac and medical-surgical nursing with a focus on cardiac monitoring and emergency response
