Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing (passing score required)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
• Prior travel experience is required

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Certifications must be current and renewed prior to start if expiring within 30 days

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
• Background checks including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
  • HHS/OIG (monthly)
  • Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
• Education verification required for all candidates
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start (takes multiple days, must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing during orientation (not required for candidates with less than 6 months gap between Cleveland Clinic contracts)
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start, from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse (co-worker references not accepted)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment
• Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes; candidates can start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start

Notes

• Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days between Cleveland Clinic assignments may need to repeat some requirements (e.g., physical exam, chest X-ray, eye exam)
• Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
• PAPRs (powered air-purifying respirators) may be approved on a case-by-case basis for mask fit failures due to facial hair with proper exemptions
• Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete all required documentation and training before clearance to start

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who hold an Ohio or compact state license and meet the certification and compliance requirements.
