Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule & Work Details

  • 36/36 or 36/48 schedule (use whichever is appropriate for the employment agreement)
  • Every other weekend off
  • No call required
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty if census decreases
  • Additional shifts beyond commitment may be offered as overtime and flexed as needed
  • Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Must live at least 100 miles from the facility

Certifications & Licenses

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on unit
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required for ER; can be pending at start but highly preferred before starting
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) highly preferred for ER but not required
  • State nursing license verification required
  • NURSYS verification required
  • National certification/verification required as applicable

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in Tennessee or working in Tennessee

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite; previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
  • Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • General orientation begins on Sundays with online compliance training
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
  • Several facility-specific documents and forms must be completed within specified timeframes (e.g., photo for badge, respirator medical evaluation questionnaire)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must review and comply with facility dress code, uniform guidelines, smoking/tobacco use policies, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statements, influenza policies, and respirator use guidelines
  • References: 2 accepted, 3 preferred
  • Skills checklist required

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
