Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
- Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit and role (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not mandatory for this position
Orientation & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication dosing test required during orientation; passing scores mandatory
- Pass/Fail testing applies to all bedside RNs except OR nurses
- Unit-specific competency exams required annually
Licensure & Background Checks
- Background check required prior to start and must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Primary source verification of nursing license required within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked
Additional Notes
- Shifts may be variable to meet operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules and training prior to clearance to start
- Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days between assignments may need to update physical exam, chest X-ray, and eye exam
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and testing requirements
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with rotating shifts and comprehensive onboarding/testing requirements.
