Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
• Serve as a primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to hospital policy.
• Share responsibility for productivity and resource utilization including staffing and time management.
• Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
• Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned.
• Assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Preferred Experience

• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
