Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) - Rochester, NY

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
  • Shift: 4x12 hour shifts, rotating days and nights
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Must be available for some holidays
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
  • Unit Size: 26 beds
  • Patient Population: CHF, acute MI, post device care (pacemakers), arrhythmias
  • Floating: Required
  • Charting System: EPIC experience required
  • Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS (AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted)
  • Licensing: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
  • Locals: Not accepted if within 75 miles radius
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Required Skills & Responsibilities

  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy: peripheral line care/management
  • Respiratory care: nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
  • Adherence to isolation precautions

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government issued photo ID required
  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
  • Education verification from primary source required
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Various certifications as required by unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
  • Color blind testing required (one-time)
  • Photo for badge required
  • References (2 within 3 years) required for Aya candidates
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Work history verification required

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year (not annual)
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

State-Specific Requirements (New York)

  • NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable) within 3 months of start
  • Fingerprinting and disciplinary action search may be required for certain units (Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, LTC)
  • Sex Offender Registry search within 30 days of start
  • NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start and run monthly

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in MedSurg/Telemetry, who holds a current NY RN license, and is comfortable with a rotating 4x12 schedule including weekends and some holidays. Prior travel experience is not required. Floating between units is mandatory.
