Job Opportunity: RN - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Unit
• Employment Type: Travel
• Unit: Medical Care Unit
• Unit Size: 32 beds
• Staff: 45 total
• Patient Ratio: 6:1
• Shifts:

  • Day Shift: 1 Manager, 1 Clinical Coordinator/Charge Nurse, 4 RNs, 2-3 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary
  • Night Shift: 1 Clinical Coordinator/Charge Nurse, 4 RNs, 2-3 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary (until 11pm)
• EMR System: Meditech 6.0

Required Qualifications

• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Certifications: BLS (ACLS NOT required)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical Surgical nursing (highest required years of experience)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified as required

Job Requirements & Expectations

• Willingness to work weekends as assigned (every other weekend and major holidays)
• Ability to manage high turnover with frequent admissions and discharges daily
• No history of attendance concerns
• Positive, outgoing attitude preferred
• Good understanding of HCAHPS importance preferred

Typical Patient Care & Procedures

• Mainly cardio-pulmonary patients, but can receive any general medical patients
• Ability to monitor cardiac needs (arrhythmias typically not treated)
• Can receive stable COVID-19 patients

• Visible and involved leadership across all shifts (Director, Manager, Clinical Coordinators, Nursing Supervisor)
• Support from experienced nurses ranging from new graduates to 20+ years
• Excellent support from PCTs, CNAs, and Nurse Externs on all shifts

Additional Information

• Floating assignments may include similar level med-surg care or stepdown units with med-surg assignments
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs, closed-toe and heel shoes required
• No on-call responsibilities
