Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)

Location: Rochester, New York

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Licensure: Must have a valid New York RN license in hand (no exceptions).
• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele RN)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required.
• Shift: 4x12 hour day shifts
• Weekend: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: Able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio on MedSurg unit
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
• Location Restriction: Locals must live within a 75-mile radius

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
• NIH Stroke Certification (to be updated annually)

Skills and Experience

• Charting: Must have EPIC electronic health record experience
• Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory Care:

  • Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
  • Non-invasive airway management
• Professional Skills: Isolation precautions

Unit Description

• Acute Stroke Unit (39 beds) specializing in acute stroke and neurological disorders
• Provides evidence-based care with an adjustable acuity delivery model
• Focus on primary prevention and acute care phases of stroke

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
• Education verification from primary source required
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Required immunizations or titers:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• References and employment verification required (specific to agency)
• State-specific documents including NYS Nurse Aide Registry and criminal background checks as applicable

Additional Notes

• Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required
• National certification verifications (NURSYS, State License verification) required within 30 days of start
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams as required
• Color blindness testing required once
• Photo for badge required (passport-style with solid background)

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience who hold a current NY license and are comfortable working in a fast-paced acute stroke and neurological care environment. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
