Description

Job Opportunity: RN - Adult Care

Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Community Care - Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals
  • Provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications
  • Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs
  • Adjust specialized medical equipment and interpret/record measurements
  • Monitor patients' vitals and report adverse medication reactions promptly
  • Collaborate on discharge planning with the healthcare team
  • Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care
  • Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records
  • Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital setting (most recent experience within the past year)
  • Physical assessment
  • Medication administration
  • Wound care & infection control
  • IV therapy
  • Post-operative care
  • Patient education
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Two (2) years of previous acute care experience in MedSurg, Maternal and Child Care, Critical Care, or Pediatrics
  • Current Adult Care home health experience

Education & Licensure Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN, ADN) from an accredited nursing program
  • New York State RN License with Primary Source Verification
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (Queens only)

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • EPIC EMR experience
