Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Oakland, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse - ICU
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: RN ICU/CPU
- Weekend Requirements: Every Other Weekend (EOW) and as needed by unit
- On Call: As needed
- Floating: May float to other units within scope of practice, including Ashby or Herrick Campus. Flexibility required with approximately 1.5 hours notice before shift start. Shuttle provided for floating between campuses.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of RN ICU experience
- Minimum 6 months prior travel nursing experience required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CA RN License (valid California Registered Nurse license)
Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics and will be verified.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
- Education verification (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
- Sex Offender Search within 90 days of start
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Employment history verification for up to 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear for work)
- Fit test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some units)
- General Competency Exam with minimum passing score of 80% or Angoff score if higher
Facility-Specific Documents and Orientation
- Candidates must review and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
- Job Description
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Confidentiality Agreement
- HIPAA Agreement
- Report of Abuse
- Orientation Booklet and Post Test
- Code of Conduct and Vendor Training (2024 and 2025 versions depending on contract date)
- Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
- TB Questionnaire (signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days)
- Epic Questionnaire (RN only, required for new candidates starting 11/3/2025 and onward)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel nursing experience is explicitly required (minimum 6 months)
- Flexibility with floating to different units and campuses is expected
- Shuttle service provided for floating between campuses
- All background checks and health documents must be current and compliant before start date
