Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
Note: Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs.
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
- Experience:
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in specialty prior to travel assignments
- Licensure:
- Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Additional Requirements:
- Must work at least every other holiday
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test required during orientation (passing score required)
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication dosing during orientation
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
- Candidates cannot skip training videos before tests
- Onboarding and module completion typically take multiple days
- Physical presence required for orientation testing
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or equivalent) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB, updated annually
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
- Eye exam required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025
Background & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Fingerprints done under nursing code 4723.09
- Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
- Education verification required for all candidates
- References: 2 references from employment within 1 year of start, from manager/supervisor/charge nurse/director (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
Competency & Testing
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing during orientation (SafeMedicate)
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and health requirements prior to start
- Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 6 months may need to retake modules and testing
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures
